Station Equipment

Mostly this is just a bunch of old stuff. Not as old as the Sherwoodized Drake C-Line from the golden years of DXing, but what is?

- FT-1000D w/SP-5 and Timewave DSP-59Y

-

Alpha 91B
- Palstar AT-1500CV Antenna Tuner
- Top Ten Devices Band Encoder (Antenna band switching)
- Ameritron RCS-8v Remote Coax Switch for 160m antenna selection
- Rascal GLX Adapter for RTTY
- Bencher Paddle
- Winkey

Somewhere is the attic is an old Kenwood 7400 2m FM rig left over from the days of 2m spotting nets. Not much need for that today, huh?

Computer Support

Wow, this is an area of the station that has changed the most since 1962 (size and $$$$). The software radios haven't shown up in the shack yet, but there are a mess of cables between the computer and radio. The shack is supported by a pair of computers, one for the station (and xyl's internet habits) the other a server. The server is an experiment to see if it is, or isn't, possible for an "old dog to learn a new trick."

Need software and have some, but not a lot of money? Check into Microsoft's Action Pack for Microsoft "Partners." Drop me an email, and I'll give you the in's and out's of the program.

These are the software packages that have been in use the longest:

-

Station Log: DX Lab Suite by AA6YQ
- Contest Logger: N1MM Logger
- RTTY Engine: MMTTY
- Spots: VE7CC

Best of all, all of these are free!
